“Bilbo met the guests (and additions) at the new white gate in person. He gave away presents to all and sundry–the latter were those who went out again by a back way and came in again by the gate. Hobbits give presents to other people on their own birthdays.”
~J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings
Watching the kids enjoy today’s presents, I’ll be taking a moment to remember whose birthday we’re celebrating!
Ke Akua has truly blessed us. Hau’oli la hanau, Bruddah Jesus!
I always thought living in a Hobbit village would be awfully close to living in Heaven, anyway! And your granddaughter is most dear. Jesus gives us so much on his birthday, yes?
