What Jesus and Hobbits Have in Common

Christmas 2011: Our granddaughter Annalia Kiana, opening presents on Jesus's birthday

“Bilbo met the guests (and additions) at the new white gate in person.  He gave away presents to all and sundry–the latter were those who went out again by a back way and came in again by the gate.  Hobbits give presents to other people on their own birthdays.”

~J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings

Watching the kids enjoy today’s presents, I’ll be taking a moment to remember whose birthday we’re celebrating!

Ke Akua has truly blessed us.  Hau’oli la hanau, Bruddah Jesus!

  1. I always thought living in a Hobbit village would be awfully close to living in Heaven, anyway! And your granddaughter is most dear. Jesus gives us so much on his birthday, yes?
